UroLift® System Local Anesthesia Protocol
- This information is presented in conjunction with Dr. Sarram. Surgical technique, medication and anesthesia regimens are based on his experience with the UroLift System. Medical practice is solely the responsibility of the treating physician, and not Dr. Sarram or NeoTract, Inc.
- The steps in this protocol are presented in the sequence performed by Dr. Sarram:
- Oral sedation
- Diazepam (Valium Oral) Taken one hour prior to procedure
- Local Anesthesia
- Cold (4oC), Lidocaine gel 2% & liquid 1%, mixed in a 5:1 ratio, 60cc, instilled into the bladder with a catheter.
- Cold (4oC), Lidocaine gel 2%, 10cc, instilled into the urethra via a syringe
- Clamp penis and patient sits upright for 20 minutes prior to procedure
